Welcome Berry Bros. & Rudd

Glengoyne Distillery, Highlands

Highland Single Malt Whisky has been produced at the Glengoyne distillery since 1833. The distillery takes its name from 'Glen Guin' or Glen of the Wild Geese, a glen which during the 18th century boasted 18 illicit whisky stills.

Glengoyne Distillery lies close to Loch Lomond, at the edge of the Campsie Fells. It is situated beneath the Dumgoyne Hill from which soft spring water flows from a waterfall almost straight into the distillery.

Geographically, the distillery lies on the Highland line which divides the Highland and Lowland regions of malt whisky production. As a result of the mild climate and the soft water, the style of the Glengoyne Single Malts tends to be almost Lowland in character.

This style is enhanced by the fact that no pungent peat is used at any stage of the Glengoyne distillation process. The result is a pure, engaging single malt whisky in which all the delicate apple and sherry flavours are allowed to express themselves.

Glengoyne Single Malt forms the basis of the Langs Blended Scotch Whisky.

16 Years Single Cask Miniature Bottlings are handpicked by a team of experts at Glengoyne and personally approved by the signature of Robbie Hughes, Distillery Manager. The colour is deep copper, with marvellous nose of shortbread, stewed fruits, Seville orange marmalade, dark chocolate. The palate is rich, full of liquorice and black pepper, finishing with a sweet rhubarb bite.

A beautifully expressive and seductively rich Highland malt from Glengoyne. Amber, syrupy appearance, almost reminiscent of a Sauternes sweet wine. The nose is made of soft signals of oak, overlaid by lush, impressively intense aromas of sherry, digestive biscuits, sweet oatcakes, banana, apricot, peaches, marzipan and peardrops. The mouthfeel is viscous, rich and coating, revealing an interplay of sherry, vanilla, chocolate and honeyed-barley notes. Absolute bliss!

Glengoyne's distinctive style carries on improving with age. The same elements are present at 17 years old as they were at 10, only now the balance has artfully changed. A more concentrated, equally well-balanced palate of flavours has emerged, though it still retains the same clean, delicate taste as the 10 Years Old. The nose is redolent of sherry, Christmas pudding,  raisins, ripe apples and tinned oranges in syrup. The palate is rich, mouth-coating introducing malty notes, treacle, roasted nuts falvours, followed by orange peel and apple compot, all wrapped in rich vanilla oak. This is a multi award winning dram (Spirits Gold Medal 2066 IWSC among others)

An exceptionally long finish characterises this mature malt. Cask ageing has developed the whisky with evidence of oak and vanilla.

A top quality, soft and delicate Speyside malt drawn from 3 casks. On the nose aromas of coffee, cream, oranges and dark chocolate are apparent. The palate is classically delicate, with a little oak grip and juicy, creamy waves of malt and fruit. The finish is lingering, classy, and delicately smokey.
