Bordeaux 2005
'Extraordinary', 'legendary' and 'best-ever' are some of the adjectives you will have seen used by the pundits to describe the 2005 vintage when it was first tasted in barrel in Bordeaux in Spring 2006. Since then we have re-tasted many of the wines and we haven't changed our minds - this is an astonishing vintage and some of the wines are the greatest we've had the privilege to drink.
If you haven't already indulged yourself with some of the wines from what, with time, could prove to be the greatest-ever Bordeaux vintage, or simply want to top up on purchases you have already made, then please do not hesitate as prices are likely to rise even further.
"Tasting the 2005 red wines from the bottle, many of them three or four times, confirmed that this is the greatest vintage produced during my 30-year career."

Potensac's 2005 is a firm, gutsy wine with elegant but very firm tannins and intense earthy flavours. The pure cassis and blackberry nose gives it considerable class, while the extra intensity and structure in 2005 makes it really rather good. Reminiscent of a top St Estèphe, this is ... MORE |

This may be a modest château (although its selection of old gnarled vines are a good sign) particularly in the context of the great names that surround it, but it is hugely underrated, as the 2005 proves. Known for its power and muscle, in 2005 it has added the communes characteristic ... MORE |
