Gagliole
Set high up among the Chianti Classico hills close to
Castellina-in-Chianti, at a dizzy 500 metres above sea level (and the cloud
line), lie the galestro-strewn vineyards of Gagliole, whose ancient history dates back to 994 A.D. More
recently Swiss lawyer and banker Dr. Thomas Bär and his wife Monika Bettschart
bought the 30ha estate (of which 8ha are vineyards) in 1990.
Significant investment has taken place across the estate, not least in recruiting a highly capable team of professionals to manage the estate & its wines. Stefano Chioccioli is the consultant enologist; Dr Tobias Frommann the agronomist; while Cesare Panti & Mrs Serenella Bentivoglio are responsible for the day-to-day management of the property.
Modern vinification techniques are employed to ensure the purest expression of the fruit, whilst capturing the fine perfumed qualities of this prized terroir.
