Château du Hureau

Philippe Vatan was thrust into the limelight at Château du Hureau by the tragic and untimely death of his brother in 1987. Previously Philippe had shown little interest in vines or winemaking. It is testament to his fortitude and skills as vigneron that he has made such a success of this Domaine.

The family's château overlooks the Loire just east of Saumur and they have 13 hectares of Cabernet Franc and 3 hectares of Chenin Blanc. Philippe`s reds are intense, concentrated and powerful and packed with appetising, ripe fruits. They have good medium term ageing potential.
