The wines of Lucien Boillot aren't the type to take a back seat. They have been variously described as "meaty", "substantial", "tannic", "robust", "spicy" and "austere". People talk of them having a big presence on the palate. The son of the now retired Lucien, Pierre, manages the domaine.

The choice on offer is large. Whether you go for a Premier Cru from Les Champonnets, Les Corbeaux, Les Cherbaudes, or one of the village Beaune, Fixin or Côte-de-Nuits-Villages, what you will get is a powerful bottle that will cellar and soften, for years.
