Krug
Krug was established
in 1843 and has since specialised in producing only prestige and specialised champagnes. Krug is
the only firm still producing all its champagne in small oak casks, an
essential element for developing Krug's intense bouquet and complex flavours.
Today, Henri, Rémi and Olivier Krug, who supervise
every step of production, tasting and blending, represent the 5th and 6th
generations.
With long periods of maturation (6-8 years), Krug champagne continues to age gracefully after release, developing an intensely rich, nutty flavour whilst remaining remarkably fresh.
Krug`s finest champagne is Clos du Mesnil, a 100%-Chardonnay based champagne that comes from a small walled vineyard at Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. It is one of the world`s greatest Blanc de Blanc champagnes.

"After the "stuctured" 1988, "sunny" 1989 and the "explosive" 1990, Remi Krug presented his "classic" 1995 in London saying it was reminiscent of the 1969 and 1979 vintages: wines celebrated for their harmony and balance. Robust and marvellously fresh, ... MORE

Attractive dense Pinot fruit on the nose. Very tight and lively – already drinking well. Extremely neat. (Jancis Robinson MW, jancisrobinson.com - Nov 08) From a blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier, this refined rosé with exquisitively ... MORE Jancis Score: 18/20

"Lemony tight on the nose. Very taut and some greenness but correct and more focused than, say, the 1995. More in the style of the 1996." (Jancis Robinson MW, jancisrobinson.com - Nov 08) Drink 2009-2030 . Jancis Score: 18/20 Wine Spectator Score: 96/100

A year like no other, 1996 in Champagne married the highest levels of sugar and acidity in living memory; the resulting wines are extraordinary in their concentration, yet perfectly poised in terms of structural definition. The 1995 Vintage provides a fascinating contrast to the 1996. This is a tightly wound, sinewy Champagne loaded with brioche, toasted oak, lemon rind, flowers and minerals. The mousse is extremely fine and the style decidedly more linear and fresh than the 1996. Though deceptively medium-bodied in ... MORE The Wine Advocate Score: 95/100

Much more open and developed on the nose than the regular 1998 vintage Krug. Really quite light and toasty, but without the density of the regular 1998 and without outstanding refreshment value. (£720 a bottle! And that’s cheap compared with their new single -vineyard Clos ... MORE Jancis Score: 17/20 Wine Spectator Score: 98/100
