Warre
Warre's is the oldest, continuously British-owned brand, as well as one of the most distinguished. It currently thrives under the ownership of the Symington family, who have furthered its quality with the purchase twenty years ago of the Quinta da Cavadinha, an estate with nearly 100 hectares of highest-quality vines in the Rio Torto valley.
In more recent years, the brand has caught up with Dow (they are both owned by the Symington family); and, while Dow's is a firmer-styled wine, Warre's has a distinctive character that leans towards perfectly balanced, elegant wines which often reveal astonishing qualities on the nose.

The 2007 Warre Vintage Port is one of the stars of the vintage. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it displays an expressive bouquet of Asian spices, incense, lavender, blackberry, and fruitcake. Plush on the palate with outstanding volume, it exhibits a sense of elegance as well as power. ... MORE Parker Score: 93/100

Typically for Warre, this is a big, powerful wine, packed with lots of deep concentrated fruit, wrapped in a rich, rounded tannic structure. (Simon Field MW, BBR Buyer) 1985 Warre is integrated, soft and rounded. (Tom Cave, Berrys' Cellar Plan Manager - Cellar ... MORE

Bottled for Berrys' by the House of Warre, this is an outstanding wine. A massively deep colour presages a dense and impressively structured palate. Tannic and weighty, but already perfectly poised, the wine has a complexity on the finish typical of the House. On the mid-palate there is a ... MORE

This is clearly a superlative wine with awesome potential. Very much in a closed stage it still showed Warre’s elegant, harmonious style and is a vintage that looks set to rival the very best. (Tom Cave - Berrys' Cellar Plan Manager)

An excellent vintage which is probably developing into a wine as fine as the 1963. Very fine nose and balance. As it ages further, it will begin to develop gently into a more tawny style wine.

Rich and highly concentrated, it has evolved into to open into a superb Port. Fragrant cassis and prunes nose, fleshy texture, loaded with ripe berry flavours, mellow tannins and a lush fruity finish. Powerful, yet impressively balanced. The 1977s have reached the middle stage of what ... MORE
