Laura Atkinson,Account Manager

Laura is passionate about food and wine, and has worked with wine on both sides of the counter. Her profession started in sales with Corney & Barrow in 2007, before leaving to train as a Sommelier. As a Sommelier, she went from selling to buying wine, working with Michelin starred chefs in five star hotels before becoming Head Sommelier at Rockliffe Hall, County Durham. She reached the finals of Sommelier of the Year competitions two years in a row, and achieved the WSET Diploma.

Laura joined Berry Bros. & Rudd in 2010. Combining her background in sales with her love of food and wine matching and creating wine lists, she joined the Sales and Service department before progressing into the Fine Wine team in early 2012. As a Private Account Manager, she manages a portfolio of private clients, helping them to build bespoke cellars for both future drinking and fine wine investment. She also hosts events and tastings in the London cellars and writes for Berrys' Wine Blog following vineyard trips around Europe. Laura's favourite part of the job is the variety. She says: "I will always enjoy food and wine matching as it has been a passion for so many years but I also love advising on investment in the fine wine market whilst helping clients with the journey of building a wine collection."

In addition Laura has been an Associate Judge at the IWSC since 2010 and is a trained WSET Educator. With a particular love for all the classic French regions, Tuscany, Port and sweet wines, Laura loves her role.

Outside of the office, Laura enjoys country pursuits, VW Beetles and eating in as many restaurants as possible.

Expert’s Wine Tip:
Laura’s favourite wine is the 1988 Cuvée Nicolas-Francois Billecart-Salmon, which she tasted in the garden of Billecart Salmon with François Billecart himself, Simon Field MW and the winemaker from 1988 François Domi. She says: "It is the most charming vintage Champagne I have ever tasted – perhaps helped by the circumstances. It was incredible. Billecart Salmon Champagne’s have pedigree, charisma and so much style!" "Champagne is not just for special occasions, I love it just as much with a simple fish and chip supper."
