Wine of the Moment

Every now and again the team in the shop will taste a wine that is too good to keep to themselves. This month Jonathan Dwyer selects one of his favourite wines from Burgundy, available from the shop at £19.95 per bottle.

2009 Mâcon-Cruzille, Domaine de la Soufrandière, Bret Bros
Jean Guillaume and Jean – Philippe are the Bret Brothers and established Domaine de la Soufrandière in August 2001. Based in Southern Mâconnais their vineyards are farmed organically, with biodynamic principles being gradually introduced.

In their quest for quality yields are kept low and all harvesting is done by hand to ensure that all grapes reach perfect maturity and physiological ripeness. All of these factors ensure that they produce consistently excellent terroir wines.

Produced from old vines, Mâcon Cruzille is no exception displaying wonderfully ripe citrus, peach and pineapple and the distinct creamy characteristic that is so classical of wine from this region. With it’s long, persistent finish this is a truly delicious and well balanced wine.
