John Ramsay, the Malt Master of Glenrothes, has crafted a selection of The Glenrothes which typifies the distillery house character - ripe fruits, citrus, vanilla and hints of spice. The Select Reserve is a first, a non-Vintage-specific selection carefully chosen by John and produced to the same high quality standards as The Glenrothes Vintage selections; only here he selecst and vats from casks from different years. Pale gold in colour, with a bouquet of American oak, vanilla and coconut, with the mearest hint of plums. The palate is full and malty, medium sweet, with vanilla and orange zest. MORE

	Ready, but will keep, 43% alc. The latest Glenrothes Vintage from the early 1990's. While you might imagine this Vintage would be similar to the 1992, there is a world of difference.The 1991 is less formal than the 1992. Enticing, open and refined it is lively and spicy on first meeting followed by a fruity voluptuousness and with water, liquorice and Demerara sugar evolve in a smoothing and rounded finish. The Glenrothes typical characteristics are all there, of course, but in the 1991 the emphasis is on vanilla, butterscotchy flavours. Try this with Chopin's Nocturne in D flat major. MORE
