Cellar Plan FAQs

Why start a Cellar Plan?

Well the truth is, if you invest a bit of time and money now, you'll end up drinking better wines in the future at a fraction of the price you’d pay for fully mature wines. The Cellar Plan is all about buying wine while it's young for drinking at its peak. See some example cellars or more reasons to start a Cellar Plan

What is the normal amount Cellar Plan holders will be able pay in each month?

It varies. The minimum amount is £250.

Why can't I pay less than £250 per month?

We require monthly payments of at least £250 as anything less does not allow enough scope for the creation of a viable cellar.

Can I start a Cellar Plan without paying monthly instalments?

No. The Cellar Plan scheme requires a monthly Direct Debit. However you can make additional payments or change your monthly payment at any time through our website or by telephone. Non-UK customers will be able to pay by credit card.

What role will my Cellar Plan Advisor play?

As soon as you sign-up to the Cellar Plan you’ll be allocated a personal Cellar Plan Advisor. They will call you to discuss your preferences and find out what you want to achieve from The Cellar Plan. From then on they will look after your plan every step of the way, ensuring everything goes swimmingly and you are offered the wines you want to buy. All our Cellar Plan Advisors hold wine qualifications and have many years’ experience in the fine wine market, so you can be sure you’ll receive the finest professional advice.

Can I view my Cellar Plan wines online

Yes. You can login to view your cellar, to make additional one-off payments and to change your monthly Direct Debit payments.

Are there wines exclusively available to Cellar Plan holders?

Yes. On occasions Berry Bros. & Rudd will purchase wines which are then offered exclusively to Cellar Plan holders.

What are the storage charges for my Cellar Plan wines?

Cellar Plan members receive preferential storage rates. For up-to-date storage costs please visit our wine storage page. We can only accept unmixed cases into Customers' Private Reserves.

How do Cellar Plan holders withdraw wines for delivery?

Cellar Plan holders wishing to withdraw wines from their Cellar Plan should allow between 3-5 days notice before despatch or collection. Delivery is free within mainland UK*, provided the consignment is at least one case. Deliveries of less than a case are charged at £10 per consignment. *See delivery terms for outside mainland UK.

Will I have access to wine tastings?

Yes. We organise many events each year exclusively for The Cellar Plan to give Plan holders the opportunity to taste lots of interesting wines and also meet wine producers. These events are heavily subsidised to ensure you get great value from being a Plan holder. You’ll also receive priority booking for our annual en primeur tastings and our calendar of Cellar Dinners, Wine Tastings & Wine Schools.
