The majority of plan holders choose to store wine in-bond with Berry Bros. & Rudd in the company's privately owned cellars in Basingstoke.

This system offers customers the security of knowing that wines are being stored in ideal conditions and has the added advantage of making it simple for plan holders to trade or sell stock back to the company should they wish to at a later date.

Wines stored with Berry Bros. & Rudd incur an annual storage charge. This cost is currently £9 (including VAT) per dozen bottles (or the equivalent in other sizes) payable in advance. Alternatively, customers can decide to have wine delivered to their own cellars as and when purchases are made.

° Please note 'in-bond' refers to stock that is held exclusive of duty and VAT. When withdrawn, unless exported or transferred to another bond, duty and VAT are charged at the prevailing rate.

It is advisable for those residing outside the UK (who may ship wine out of the country) or anyone who may want to sell stock in the future, to store wine in bond.

Withdrawing stock from bond: Duty and VAT at the prevailing rate will be payable on stock that is withdrawn from bond. For wine, this currently equates to £18.84 per case for duty and 15% VAT on the original cost and duty.

Customers' Private Reserves are insured at replacement market value.

Customers wishing to withdraw stock from their 'Private Reserves' should allow between three and five days notice before despatch or collection. Delivery is free within the UK, provided the consignment is at least a case. Deliveries of less than a case are charged at £10.00 per consignment.* Please note that `in-bond' transfers attract a £15 administrative charge.
