Bordeaux 2005

'Extraordinary', 'legendary' and 'best-ever' are some of the adjectives you will have seen used by the pundits to describe the 2005 vintage when it was first tasted in barrel in Bordeaux in Spring 2006. Since then we have re-tasted many of the wines and we haven't changed our minds - this is an astonishing vintage and some of the wines are the greatest we've had the privilege to drink.

If you haven't already indulged yourself with some of the wines from what, with time, could prove to be the greatest-ever Bordeaux vintage, or simply want to top up on purchases you have already made, then please do not hesitate as prices are likely to rise even further.

This full-bodied, rich, fragrant (the Thienponts call it the "Richebourg" of Bordeaux) effort possesses supple, velvety tannin and attractive sweetness and expansiveness, as well as good freshness and definition.
