Message On A Bottle - 16/06/2003

Design students have produced a wine bottle with mini TV screen designed to show give all the information you need to know about the wine inside. Students at St Martins College of Art and Design in London were asked to design the prototype to celebrate the 150th year of wine firm Hardys. The company asked them to design what they thought the wine bottle would be like in another 150 years.

The bottle, which self cools through a temperature control device in the neck, has a mini TV screen which shows a short film sequence about where the wine was grown, how it was bottled, tasting notes and what food it suits. The bottle, designed by Marten Lindquist and Brian Goulding, has already been patented by Hardys and will be unveiled at the International Wine Fair in Bordeaux on June 22.
