Beaujolais 2009

Beaujolais Renaissance
It was not just Bordeaux and Burgundy which enjoyed superb vintages in 2009, the Beaujolais also made exceptionally exciting wines, arguably even finer than the wonderful 2005s. The structure of a great vintage is clearly present, allied to an immensely appealing richness of fruit - these are wines to fall in love with.

It is amazing that the fine wines from the top Crus, made by conscientious producers who plough their soil and take the same care and attention as their colleagues in the Côte d’Or, are mostly available for well under £20.00 a bottle. Wine lovers take note: the 2009s are not only brilliant wines but absolute bargains.

But don't just take our word for it. These wines have achieved critical acclaim, with MWs Tim Atkin and Jancis Robinson praising 2009 as the year that is going to put Beaujolais back on the map.

And rightly so. These are wines of great variety, from the richer styles of Moulin-à-Vent, such as Tim Atkin’s recommended 2009 Moulin à Vent, En Brenay from Jean-Paul Dubost, to the lighter, elegant and purely enjoyable wines from Fleurie, such as 2009 Fleurie, Domaine Sunier.

What’s more, most of these wines are now here in our cellars, so you can enjoy them immediately (those still awaiting shipment are labelled ‘en primeur’). So, if you’re looking for an excellent value alternative to the heralded 2009 Burgundies, look no further than the charming wines of the Beaujolais.

Below is a selection of all the wines available from 2009 (including en primeur)
