Beaujolais 2010

The world has long been waiting for good news from Beaujolais and it all began with the exceptional 2009 vintage. But after years without one, suddenly three great vintages come along at once, since 2010 and 2011 are equally high class if different in style. Where the 2009 wines are exuberant and expansive, the 2010s are compact and concentrated.

While Beaujolais is primarily regarded as a youthful wine for drinking now, the best examples of the Gamay grape have fantastic potential to age for many years, resembling mature Pinot Noir as they develop. The 2010 vintage is a prime example of this, as the vivacious side of the wines will win many friends in youth, but their concentration guarantees a long and healthy life.
