Pilar Aranda y Latorre
Pilar Aranda y Latorre is one of the most famous Almacenista bodegas in Jerez. It is named after the gran senor, Dona Pilar, who took over the business after the death of her father in 1946. She was renowned for her tasting ability and for her great charm and humour. She died in 1997 aged 90 and her grandson, 36 year old Fermin Garcia Villaescusa, now manages the business.
The family own 7 bodegas, 3 of which are leased out - 85% of the annual output is resold to Gonzalez-Byass for their own blends, while the remaining 15% goes to Emilio Lustau for unblended bottling. These are first-class wines with the Amontillado Fino being especially prized.
