Corte Rugolin
Corte Rugolin, which is located in the commune of Marano in the
Valpolicella zone is a relatively young operation, having been
established in 1995 as an offshoot of Bruno Coati's famous winery. The
name refers to an old Manor House on the estate, which can trace its history
back to the late 1600s. The Coati family has been making wine in the region
since 1918 and Bruno's children Elena and Frederico now run Corte
Rugolin.
The 5 hectares of vineyards are in the heart of Valpolicella Classico and are designated to the production of very high quality wines. They are reaching these goals by increasing the density of the vineyard and reducing the yield per vine. In the winery, oenologist Paolo Grigoli acts as a consultantb but it is Elena Coati who is responsible for the character, quality & shape of their wines. Vinification is traditional, although small oak barrels are now used for maturing the wines. Corte Rugolin produces Valpolicella Classico, Valpolicella Ripassoand Amarone della Valpolicella and is definately a name to watch over the next few years.
