Chateau de Fonscolombe

The de Saporta family have owned Château de Fonscolombe for almost 200 years and have continued its long winemaking history. Over the years, they have modernised the cellars, replanted the vineyards with different grape varieties and improved the quality of the wines, which are now some of the best in the Provence region.

The vineyard of Château de Fonscolombe is made up of two distinct areas, both of them located in the north of the Appellation at both ends of the Trévaresse hills. A total of 100 hectares are classified as AOC Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence .

The soil is stony clay in Le Puy Sainte Réparade and sedimentary sand that drains well in Lambesc. The estate is at an altitude of 250 metres and the nights are cooler than in the southern part of the Appellation. The average rainfall is about 600 mm a year.

The rosé wine, made mainly by the saignée method (using the free-run juice), is a blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah, which are de-stemmed and vinified at 18°C. Pale pink in colour, it has a very elegant and fruity bouquet. It is fresh, delicate and silky with a pleasant length.
