Domaine Pietri-Geraud
The charming Laetitia Piétri makes excellent wines in
Domaine Pietri-Geraud in both Collioure and Banyuls; the latter made
from Grenache and Carignan, the former
from the eponymous Muscat, in its Rivesaltes
manifestation.
The difference is marked between the fresh, grapey Muscat and the rich, weighty Grenache, the first excellent with light fruit-based puddings and the second for heavier fare, that may sometimes even involve chocolate.
It is known as a VDN, (a Vin Doux Naturel, it is not in point of fact natural, having been fortified by a process known as 'mutage') and is made from mainly Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains but also a little Muscat d'Alexandre.
