Château Ducru-Beaucaillou
Château
Ducru-Beaucaillou is a St-Julien property that today is one of the
leading Super Seconds. It is owned by the Borie family and is situated
in the south-east of the St-Julien appellation. Ducru-Beaucaillou's 50 hectares
of vineyards (Cabernet
Sauvignon 65%, Merlot
25%, Cabernet Franc 5% and
Petit Verdot 5%) lie on deep, large-stone gravel beds enriched with alluvial
soil deposits and with a high clay content. The wines are matured in oak
barriques (50-60% new) for 18 months.
For many, Ducru-Beaucaillou is the quintessential St-Julien - deep-coloured, powerful, ripe, exquisitely well-balanced and perfectly harmonious. It requires a minimum of 10 years of bottle ageing before it should be approached and the best vintages will continue improving for many more years. Ducru-Beaucaillou is classified as a 2ème Cru Classé.

Wines Lying in Barrel , Not available for delivery. This beautifully poised Ducru is as modern and seductively fruity as ever but displays a purer more intellectual edge in 2007 that reveals the estate's enormous potential. Ruthless work in the vineyard was the key to Ducru's success, with extensive green and pink harvesting throughout the year. ... MORE Drink 2015-2030 . Wines Lying in Barrel , Not available for delivery. Tasting at Ch. Ducru-Beaucaillou is a surreal experience. To say that the Borie family have an unusual taste in modern art is an understatement but once you get past the flamboyant bright orange-yellow décor and copper filigree sliding doors of the tasting ‘tunnel’, the 2008 ... One of Bordeaux's shining lights in terms of both quality and consistency over the last decade, the 2001 is no exception. As with the other wines in François-Xavier Borie's care the beautiful, pure ripeness of fruit and vanilla oak hints immediately win you over. But Ducru is in another league ... MORE

"Floral notes intermixed with rapberries, black currants, minerals and a hint of new oak emerge from the dense purple-colored 2000 Ducru- Beaucaillou. The wine is sweet, dense and medium to full-bodied, with undeniable elegance and finesse as well as a finish that lasts 45+ seconds. A wine of ... MORE

Ch. Ducru-Beaucaillou, St. Julien is gorgeous, with a lovely perfumed floral nose of violets and black fruit supported by a pure, creamy and elegantly structured palate.
