Château Haut-Bertinerie
Ch. Haut Bertinerie is regarded by many as the `grand cru' of the Premières Côtes de Blaye. It is a 45 ha property producing on average 25,000 cases of Red and 6,000 cases of white per year. Blaye & Bourg, situated on the right bank of the Gironde, are less protected from the westerly weather than the Médoc & hence receive more rainfall. Ch. Haut Bertinerie is found in the south of Blaye, behind Bourg on clay-rich, lush, undulating hills. Its vines are trained 'en lyre'(V-form), thereby exposing the bunches to more sun; the grapes are also picked by hand.
