Paras Vineyard

Paras Vineyard

Paras Vineyard, situated on Mt. Veeder at 360 metres above the Napa Valley, is a 10 ha estate which was founded and planted by Jim Paras in 1991 after a three year search for prime mountain property that would support both Bordeaux and Rhône varietals.

The majority of the soil on the estate is decomposed shale and as such was matched predominantly with Rhône varietals. Paras Vineyard has been a pioneering property for Rhône varietals and one of the early properties in the region to see the benefits of close spacing on shallow, sparse soils. Yields are low (an average of 35 hl/ha in most vintages) and have historically produced wines of great structure and elegance. Douglas Danielak is the winemaker, an experienced hand who has travelled the world turning grapes into wine.

The range comprises a Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Nebbiolo & Viognier, produced in several hundred case lots.
