Château La Bastide

Corbieres is a large region that until the mid 1980s had a reputation for producing rather rustic wines largely due to the high proportion of Carignan in the blends. However the introduction of Rhône varitials such as Syrah and Mourvèdre and improvements in vinification techniques have dramatically raised the quality of the wines.

Anne Marie and Guilhem Durand took over this property in 1989 located just outside the village of Escales in Corbieres. This large Domaine extends to over 250 hectares yet only 70 hectares are planted with vines. The Durands embarked on an extensive replanting programme and now quality is higher than ever before.

The red wine is a blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan and offers outstanding value for money.
