Les Vigneaux
Known mainly for its fleshing-out qualities in the Bordeaux blend, Merlot plays a more leading role in the clayey soils of the right bank of the Gironde in Pomerol and St. Emilion.
Recently Merlot has found another niche in producing light and fruity everyday wines that are low in tannin. Like Cabernet Sauvignon, it is known for its black berry qualities but it produces softer, plumper wines that are earlier maturing.
