La Serena di Andrea Mantengoli

Owned by the Tuscan Mantengoli family since 1933, the 50 ha Rasa Montalcino estate (of which 9 are vineyards) was brought to life in 1988 with the completion of a new winery. More recently La Serena has become the responsibility of son Andrea, an architect by training, and his wife Elisabetta.

Situated on the north-eastern slopes of the Montalcino zone the fruit is vinified in conjunction with wine consultant Paolo Caciorgna. Stylistically they represent a more modern, lush, earlier drinking expression of Brunello di Montalcino wines, combining a relatively short, selected yeast ferment, followed by maturation in French barriques & large slavonian botte.
