Château Portets

Château de Portets is one of the oldest properties in the Graves and steeped in history. It stands on the foundations of both a Roman villa and a medieval castle. It was on July 31st 1808, that the Château was visited by Napoléon 1st, returning from Spain, en route to Bordeaux.

The Château dominates a huge vineyard consisting of nearly 40 hectares of vines dedicated to wine, the vines grown on heavy, gravely soil with a calcareous clay subsoil. The vineyards consist of 50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet-Sauvignon and 15 % Cabernet Franc.
