Morgenhof Estate
The illustrious Morgenhof Estate is owned by the famous Cointreau family, who also own Champagne Gosset and Cognac Frapin. The vineyards, which date back to 1692, are situated on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountains just outside Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Despite its long history it is only since 1993, when Anne Cointreau bought the property, that the Morgenhof Estate has really acquired a reputation for quality wine production. The winemaker is Jacques Cilliers, who has worked here since 2003 but was appointed to his current position in 2005.
A full range is produced but the flagship wine, formerly called Premiere Selection, is Morgenhof Estate, a complex Bordeaux-style blend of which 65% is made up by Cabernet Sauvignon.
