Ch. La Lauzette

La Lauzette, owned by Frans and Liz Roskam, is a wine property situated between Margaux and St Julien in the Haut-Médoc. The owners, who are themselves trained oenologists, have engaged the technical assistance of consultant Jacques Boissenot, who boasts a fantastic track record through having been adviser to a clutch of top estates in the Médoc including several First Growths.

The subsoil is predominantly gravel, hence the high percentage of Cabernet in the blend, and the vinification is very classical, with fermentation in tank followed by 12 months ageing in barrel, 30% new each year. Production is around 18,000 bottles per annum and the average age of the vines is a healthy 35 years.

The wine blend is typically 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc.
