Schoffit

Bernard Schoffit's winery is located on the outskirts of Colmar and is one of the best sources of high quality wine in the region. He has 15 hectares of vineyards, including a proportion of Colmar's lieu-dit Harth vineyard and the Clos St. Théobald situated on the Grand Cru Rangen. The average vine age is high and Bernard is a devotee of low yields - he believes the higher the yield, the more the terroir of a site becomes diluted and more indiscernible.

Schoffit`s wines are often compared to those of Zind-Humbrecht but his wines are steelier, more aromatic, rounded and restrained than the former. The best wines, while seductively rich and honeyed when young, definitely benefit from cellaring.
