Domaine Balland
Domaine Balland can trace its roots back to 1650 and is one of the best producers in Sancerre today. Based in the village of Bue, there are 20 hectares of vineyards, with 75% planted with Sauvignon Blanc and 25% with Pinot Noir. The winemaking is modern and faultless with the emphasis on very careful handling of the grapes and the must and as little treatment of the wines as possible.
The reds are some of the purest expressions of Pinot Noir to be found in Sancerre and will keep for up to 5 years after the vintage. The whites are medium-bodied, well rounded and ripe with a seductive creamy elegance and with a surprisingly long finish. They offer an interesting contrast in style to André Dezat's Sancerres.
