Denis Goizil

Denis Goizil took over this 7 hectare estate in 1988. His Domaine is located in the south of the Coteaux du Layon Appellation but he also has holdings in the tiny la Montagne region that is a superior sub-appellation of Bonnezeaux

The average age of his vines is about 30 years, and he keeps his yields to a minuscule 20 hectolitres per hectare thus ensuring only wines of the highest quality. Insisting on hand-harvesting, Goizil makes four `tries' to collect only grapes in a perfectly botrytised state. These are medium sweet wines that display well delineated rich honeyed fruit counterbalanced by a backbone of crisp acidity.
