Willi Haag

This tiny estate (5 hectares) is run by Inge (mother) and Markus Haag, Markus' father having died in 1995. Markus is still only in his twenties but he has very quickly made his mark in Brauneberg, with a very pure, concentrated range of wines.

The estate's 2 main holdings lie in the villages best vineyards - Juffer and Juffer-Sonnenuhr. These two vineyards are located on slate-rich, precipitously steep slopes. This slate "terroir", combined with the natural steely raciness of the Riesling grape gives the Haag wines their mouth-watering style. The family also have a holding in Brauneberger Mandelgraben, which is in a side valley off the Mosel.
