Morand Louis & Cie

In 1889, the Morand Distillery is founded by Louis Morand. The first liqueur created by Louis was made from a mix of plants and honey from the Alps. He also created an absinthe that proved to be extremely popular.

In 1953 Louis’ son, André, created an eau de vie from the Valais Williams pears and gave it the name Williamine. André named his son Louis, and passed on the family business to him in 1958. He led the company for over fifty years, and the Williamine became the international gold standard in pear eau de vie.

Today, the business is still family run with the help of others, and continues to move and evolve with the changing market.
