La Chiara
Gavi is a small town in the south-east corner of Piemonte that has a reputation for producing some of the finest dry white wines in Italy. La Chiara is one of the leading producers in the area.
Gavi di Gavi is made from Cortese, a grape that is renowned for its ability to maintain high levels of natural acidity even in baking-hot years. The wines tend to have a straw colour and are aromatically fairly neutral. However, on the palate it is steely and fruity with appealing citrus undertones and a backbone of pure and crisp acidity. It can be aged for up to 5 years and goes particularly well with fish.
