Viticolturi dei Colli Euganei

Colli Euganei (the hills of Euganei) are a range of hills in Veneto formed thousand of years ago by volcanic eruptions. The wines from the region have recently been attracting the plaudits of consumers and critics, largely due to the efforts of the Colli Euganei consortium, a selective group of growers who have formed a co-operative cantina for the production of their wines.

The vineyards of Colli Euganei are now part of the government-protected Colli Euganei Parklands and use of chemicals and herbicides is severely restricted. The consortium boasts one of the finest laboratories in Italy and the winemaker works very closely with all the growers to ensure that quality rather than quantity is the priority. A wide range of wine is produced, with the Merlot wines giving the best results. The Colli Euganei Merlot is silky smooth with plump, ripe fruits and well-balanced tannins.
