Domaine de l`Aigle was acquired in 1989 by Jean-Louis Denois, a Champenois by birth. He had previously studied in Beaune and worked in Australia, New Zealand, California and South Africa.

Such a blend of "Old World" and "New World" can be clearly detected in their wines, made as they are, by the methode traditionelle, but owing more in view of their expressive, open flavours, to a modern approach.

His forward-thinking mindset has led to clashes with the INAO, which he argues inhibits producers from maximising the quality of their wines.
