Mitchelton Wines

Mitchelton's first vintage was in 1973 and today it is recognised as one of Victoria's leading producers. Its 130 hectares of vineyards are located close to the Goulborn River in the Nagambie district in Central Victoria, Australia, 130 kilometres north of Melbourne. Mitchelton was established by Melbourne entrepreneur Ross Shelmerdine but since 1994 it has been part of the Petaluma Group.

Don Lewis has been the winemaker since 1974 and produces an impressive array of wines across a broad spectrum of style and price. Marsanne is the Goulburn Valley's local speciality (at one time the Goulburn Valley had more Marsanne vines than France) and at Mitchelton it is used in several different styles of wines, including a sparkling wine. Mitchelton's Riesling is one of Australia's best and its reds from Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are very impressive, with Reserve and Print Series bottlings being exceptional.
