Domaine Chezeaux

Domaine Chezeaux

Domaine des Chézeaux is a little-known Burgundian domaine, formed in 1982 from vineyards owned by the Mercier family since 1928. Chézeaux owns around 4 hectares of vineyard in the Côte-de-Nuits region, around half of which is made up of Grand Crus between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny. In fact, Chézeaux owns almost 60% of the Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru vineyard.

The reason for Chézeaux’s relative obscurity is that its wines are labelled under different names: Laurent Ponsot represents the wines from the three Grand Crus, René Leclerc also represents Griotte, and Domaine Berthaut puts its name on the labels for the other wines made in the Gevrey region.

Wines from Griotte in particular are considered to be very fine, elegant wines with flavours of red fruits, spices and a faint minerality, notable for their opulence and sensuality.
