Château de Lisennes
Château de Lisennes can trace its origins back to 1758. The château is an imposing building surrounded by a square courtyard enclosed by striking wrought-iron railings. A line drawing of the gates illustrates each label. It was purchased by Jean-Leon Soubie in 1938 and is now owned and managed by his son, Jean Pierre Soubie.
Château de Lisennes is located 10 km east of the city of Bordeaux in the commune of Tresses in the Entre-Deux-Mers region. There are 50 hectares of vineyards planted with 34% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Cabernet Franc. The grapes are fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel vats and the wine is then matured in small oak bariques (25-33% new) for 9-12 months.
Château de Lisennes produces attractive and well-structured, fruit-driven clarets that benefit from 3-4 years of bottle ageing. These wines represent astonishingly good value for money.
