Chateau Citran

Chateau Citran

Chateau Citran is owned by Groupe Bernard Taillan/Famille Merlaut and is a 90 ha property that produces on average 45,000 cases per year.

Located on the border of the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation, the property and appellation share a similar climate to that enjoyed by the Médoc: maritime, with the Gironde estuary & the Bay of Biscay combining to act as a climate regulator and the coastal pine forests shelter the vines from the westerly & north-westerly winds. The soil, less diverse than in the Médoc, is predominantly sandy, with gravel. The vineyards comprise Cabernet Sauvignon 58%; Merlot 42%. The wines ferment & macerate for 4 weeks in stainless steel before undergoing oak ageing, 40% new. It is classified as a `Cru Bourgeois'.
