Château La Louvière (blanc)

Château La Louvière is now one of the most renowned properties in Pessac-Léognan producing exceptionally high-quality reds and whites that remain very fairly priced. The property has a long and illustrious history and possesses a very handsome château that dates back to 1795. It has been owned by André Lurton since 1965.

The property consists of 50 hectares of vineyards that are bordered by those of Carbonnieux and Haut Bailly. 33% of the vineyards are planted with white varieties (85% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Sémillon) while the remaining vineyards are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. For the whites, fermentation takes place in oak barrels (33% new) and the wine remains in cask for 10-12 months.

The wines of La Louvière were not classified in 1959 yet today they consistently outperform the wines of many of their prestigious cru classé neighbours.
