Château Grand-Pontet, a 14 hectare St-Emilion Grand Cru Classé property was owned by Barton & Guestier until it was purchased in 1980 by Gérard and Dominique Becot, who also own the neighbouring property, Château Beau-Séjour-Bécot.
Grand-Pontet's vineyards are well situated on the famous limestone plateau found west of the village of St-Emilion and are planted with Merlot (75%), Cabernet Franc (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%).
The wine is traditionally vinified and is matured in one-year-old barriques for between 12 and 18 months.
