Font de Michelle, Gonnet Frères

The youthful Jean and Michel Gonnet are 3rd generation vignerons with 30 hectares of well situated vines in Chateauneuf. Their uncle is Henri Brunier of Vieux Télégraphe and he taught Jean most of his winemaking skills.

The average vine age is high at around 35 years and the vinification is straightforward - the only quirk being the 10% Syrah component of the blend being given a semi-maceration carbonique. This has the effect of providing extra colour and aromas to the wine without more tannins. These are well balanced wines laden with herbs, sweet red and black fruits, and utra fine tannins.
