Domaine La Montagne D`Or

Alain Mahinc comes from a family of vignerons with small holdings of vineyards at Séguret in the Southern Rhône. The family never produced any wine, preferring instead to sell their grapes to the local co-operative. Alain set up on his own in 1996, built a large chai and vinified the wine himself. The quality of his wines was spotted early on and soon buyers were clamouring to get a piece of the action.

He insists on low yields (maximum 35hl/ha and usually far lower), from vines with a high average age, and minimal handling of the grapes once in the chai. He bottles his finest cuvées unfined and unfiltered. Alain`s wines are usually deeply coloured and are rich, spicy and complex on the nose and on the palate. His best wines have the potential to improve for 5-6 years and sometimes even longer.
