Cartlidge and Browne
In 1981 Tony Cartlidge and Glenn Browne made their first wine together - they sold it in less than 3 weeks to restaurants in San Francisco. In 1982 they teamed up with winemaker Paul Moser and have not looked back since. Now operating out of a winery just north of St.Helena, this is a superb source for well-priced wines, with the only problem being that they sell out fast!
Grapes are sourced from across the region, although the Zinfandel crop primarily comes from the Woodbridge-Lodi area.
The Chardonnay, which sees partial malolactic-fermentation and a period of oak ageing, is a fruit-driven, substantial wine with notes of honey and citrus and tropical fruits.
Those looking for Zinfandel faithful to its varietal character should look no further than the spicy, berry-scented, peppery Zin they make for us.
