Mount Veeder Winery

High above the fog bank, the microclimate of Mount Veeder is very different to that of the valley floor - growing conditions are cooler and windier, although there are more sunshine hours and night-time temperatures are warmer, so often the grapes ripen ahead of those on the Valley floor. Another crucial factor is the soil, which is a mixture of thin shale and volcanic ash and this, combined with limited water, means a grape yield half that of valley floor crop levels.

The results are rich, complex wines with refined tannins, silky textures and marvellous depth of fruit.
