Arthurs Creek Estate

Arthurs Creek was set up by S.E.K. Hulme, a leading Melbourne QC, in 1978. What was bought as a farm long ago was transformed into a vineyard after an anecdotal observation by an Italian estate manager.

For the first 12 years, Arthurs Creek made no attempt to sell a single bottle of wine. In 1990 Gary Baldwin was made a consultant and selling commenced soon after, with the winemaking shifted to Michelton. Since Baldwin's arrival there has been an upsurge in the consistency of quality and the wines are now uniformly of the highest class. In 2001 winemaking was shifted to the nearby Yarra Valley winery, Yering Station, where Gary Baldwin remains as winemaking consultant.

Production is tiny and the Cabernet Sauvignon in particular is outstanding.
