Château Teyssier
Château Teyssier is a St Emilion Grand Cru
located in Vignonet, one of five St Emilion communes. The property has a long
history of wine production, going back as far as 1714 when it was little more
than a farm. In 1869 the property was purchased by the historian Jules Roy, who
constructed a grand Château and developed the surrounding vineyards. From then
on little had changed until Jonathan and Lyn Maltus purchased the
property in 1994.
Château Teyssier has since steadily been enlarged and improved by modernisation in the winery and the cellar. A second winery was also been constructed soley for the purpose of vinifying Maltus' single vinyard wines. Malthus has added to his portfolio with the production of his garage wine, Le Dôme and purchase of Château Laforge in 1998, both these wines are vinified at Château Teyssier. The wines are now made under the watchful eye of Gilles Pauquet, oenologist to Cheval Blanc, and there is no doubt that the quality is very good indeed.
