Château Rollan de By

Rollan de By is an excellent, modern Médoc estate. In 1989 there were only 2 hectares of vines planted here, now there are 70!

The property is owned by Jean Guyon but, unusually, he is advised by Italian master-winemaker Riccardo Cotarella. This is not as strange as it seems as the Cotarella family estate in Lazio, Falesco, is famed for its 100% Merlot wine, Montiano. The vineyards at Rollan de By are dominated by Merlot (70%) with Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) and Petit Verdot (10%).

After a long, slow fermentation the wine spends 15 months in 100% new, French oak barrels. This is a very reliable source of good value Médoc.
